A Case Study on an Art Therapy¡¯ Effect on the Alleviating Stress and Improving Sociality for a Child with Epilepsy Disorder

Abstract
This study was aimed to investigate how art therapy affects stress and sociality for a child with epilepsy disorder. An elementary school female student in the 5th grade was applied for art therapy. The method of research for this study was to apply a single system design. And the experiment was conducted for an hour once a week for 12 months. Multidimensional effectiveness verification is used to compensate the limitations of single case study; for example, the stress and sociality repeatedly are measured on a monthly basis and pre/post examination are performed by using drawing test tools such as KHTP and PITR. Process analysis is also conducted to search the change of the subject more in depth. In conclusion, it turned out that the art therapy could be an effective mediation tool to alleviate a child¡¯s stress with epilepsy disorder and increase the subject¡¯s sociality. Based on these results, this paper presents theoretical and practical implications for art therapy related with a child with epilepsy disorder.
